Men’s Tennis Suffers Loss to Susquehanna

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team had its six-match winning streak broken on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions were defeated 8-1 by non-conference opponent Susquehanna University at the Adler Tennis Courts.

Susquehanna (5-6) swept doubles play to grab the early 3-0 lead in the match, and the visitors went on to win five out of six in singles, including taking two out of three singles matches that went to tiebreakers.

Casey Hess (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona) provided the lone point of the match for Penn State Altoona (9-3), battling for a 6-2, 3-6, 12-10 victory in No. 1 singles. The win is Hess' team-leading ninth singles victory of the season, and it is his second singles win in the No. 1 spot.

Penn State Altoona men's tennis will look to get back on track Wednesday, April 12, when the Lions return to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play with a 4:30 p.m. home match against Pitt-Greensburg.
