Women’s Bowling Finishes Ninth at AMCC Round Robin #1

LATROBE, Pa. – At the conclusion of the second and final day of the first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin of the season on Sunday at Lincoln Lanes, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team found itself in ninth place out of nine squads.

Competing in baker matches decided by total pinfall, the Lions knocked down a total of 2,639 pins in Sunday's action to finish with a two-day combined score of 5,579 to place ninth.

Medaille College won the weekend, posting a total of 7,268 pins and going undefeated with eight wins in as many matches. Saint Vincent College, the weekend's host institution, finished in second place with 7,148 pins and a 6-2 record.

After playing the first half of the conference in Saturday's matches, Penn State Altoona completed the round robin by taking on New Jersey City University, Pitt-Bradford, Pitt-Greensburg, and Penn State Behrend on Sunday.

The Lions opened against New Jersey City and lost 749-655, and they followed that with an 814-665 loss to Pitt-Bradford. Pitt-Greensburg handed Penn State Altoona a 795-648 loss in the third match, and the Lions finished the day with a 713-671 defeat against Penn State Behrend.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling is now finished competition for the remainder of the semester. The Lions will resume their 2021-22 schedule on Friday, January 28, when they will begin rolling in the three-day Saint Francis University Red Flash Invitational at Holiday Bowl in Altoona.
