Women’s Bowling Splits Mid-State Mountie Classic

ALTOONA, Pa. – In the final event of its 2021-22 season, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team went 1-1 during Saturday's Mid-State Mountie Classic, hosted by Mount Aloysius College at the Bavarian Aid Society's F.A. Gerhart Lanes.

The day was a special one for the Penn State Altoona women's bowling program, which recognized senior bowler Allyson Givler (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) on her four-year collegiate bowling career in a pregame Senior Day ceremony.

In the Lions' first match of the day, the team took on La Roche University in a five-game baker match. The Redhawks topped Penn State Altoona in each game by scores of 145-112, 199-114, 174-117, 156-129, and 119-117 to win the match 793-589.

In Penn State Altoona's second and final five-game baker match of the day, the team took on host Mount Aloysius and pulled out a tight win. The Lions led 159-145 after the opening game, but Mount Aloysius closed the gap with a 133-124 pinfall advantage in the second game. Penn State Altoona bounced back to lead 155-126 during the third game, but the Mounties again made up some ground with a 129-113 advantage in the fourth game. Penn State Altoona iced the win, however, taking the fifth game 147-111 to defeat Mount Aloysius 698-644 in the match.
