Women’s Bowling Team Recognized on NTCA All-Academic Lists

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) released its All-Academic team and individual awards on Tuesday, recognizing NCAA bowling teams and their student-athletes for excelling in academics this past year.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling earned a place on the NTCA's All-Academic Team Award list, while five individual Lion bowlers qualified for All-Academic individual status.

As a team, Penn State Altoona women's bowling compiled a 3.52 cumulative grade-point average, which ranks as the 14th-highest team GPA among all NCAA women's bowling programs in the country. To qualify for the NTCA All-Academic Team Award, teams must have recorded cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher for the 2022-23 academic year.

Among the individuals recognized on the NTCA All-Academic awards, Penn State Altoona had five of its student-athletes meet the criteria. To take a place on the NTCA All-Academic individual list, student-athletes must have posted cumulative GPAs of 3.4 or higher for the 2022-23 academic year.

The five Penn State Altoona women's bowlers named to the NTCA All-Academic list are:

-sophomore Isabelle Forcey (Clearfield, PA/DuBois Central Catholic), an Early Childhood Education major

-freshman Kennedie Lauver (New Berlin, PA/Mifflinburg), a Business major

-freshman Maddy Sosko (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe), an Environmental Studies major

-junior Breanna Yarnall (Bedford, PA/Bedford), a Nursing major

-freshman Brooke Yarnall (Bedford, PA/Bedford), a Nursing major
