by McKenzie Quirin

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team returned to the road on Thursday night against the Chatham University Cougars, and the Lions settled for a 1-1 tie.

Schenley Farrell (Philipsburg, PA/Philipsburg-Osceola) scored her first goal of the 2023 season for the Lions' (0-4-1) only goal of the night, which was unassisted.

Nicole Schwartz (Clifton, NJ/Passaic County Technical Institute) made her second start between the pipes for Penn State Altoona, recording four saves on five shots on goal.

The Lions scored the game's first goal at 12:13 of the first half. Farrell launched a long-range shot from near the left sideline that beat the Chatham (1-2-2) goalie and gave the Lions the 1-0 lead.

The Lions' one-goal lead stood up until late in the second half, when Chatham broke through at 88:53 to even the score with an Ainsley Smith goal, ending the potential shutout for the Lions.

Farrell finished with all three of Penn State Altoona's shots on goal. Amanda Hazel (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), Camryn Kurilla (Mount Wolf, PA/Northeastern), and Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) also attempted shots for the Lions.
