Women’s Swimming Splits Tri-Meet With Alderson Broaddus, Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team competed in its second road event of the season on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Franciscan University's home pool to face the Barons and Division II opponent Alderson Broaddus University.

The Lions earned a split on the day, defeating Alderson Broaddus 149-21 while falling to Franciscan 129-118.

Penn State Altoona recorded eight total first places on the day, with McKenna Holl (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley), and Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) leading the way with two individual first places apiece.

Holl placed first in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:08.4, and she picked up her second win of the day in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:30.33.

Heisey won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.29, and she also prevailed in the 100 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 57.29.

Petry finished atop the standings in the 200 Yard Backstroke, hitting the pad at 2:22.66. She later won the 500 Yard Freestyle by finishing in 5:52.27.

Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) notched a first place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 2:07.12.

Penn State Altoona finished the meet by triumphing in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the team of Hailey Toth (New Ringgold, PA/Tamaqua), Coleman, Petry, and Heisey combined for a time of 1:48.29 to take first.

Next up, Penn State Altoona women's swimming will return home on Saturday, November 13, when the Lions will host Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Alfred State College for a meet starting at 1:00 p.m.
