Women’s Swimming Remains in Eighth at Oberlin Invite

OBERLIN, Ohio – After the second day's finals session in the Oberlin College Invitational on Friday at Carr Pool, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team continued to hold down eighth place out of nine teams.

The Lions finished the day with 285 points as a team.

Penn State Altoona started Friday evening's finals with a ninth place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, in which the group of McKenna Holl (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College), Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone), and Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) compiled a total time of 1:58.27.

One event later, Grace Frey (Wayne, PA/Conestoga) competed in the 100 Yard Butterfly 'C' final, taking 21st place overall with a time of 1:11.97. In the next event, the 200 Yard Freestyle, Coleman and Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) placed 12th and 13th, respectively, with times of 2:04.60 and 2:05.69 while swimming in the 'B' final.

In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Hailey Toth (New Ringgold, PA/Tamaqua) took 22nd place by clocking in at 1:20.93, while Camille Izdepski (Lusby, MD/Patuxent) was 24th place with a time of 1:28.24, with both swimmers competing in the 'C' final.

Dangelo swam in the 'B' final of the 100 Yard Backstroke, clinching second in the 'B' cut and 10th place overall by finishing in 1:04.03. Holl finished 16th in the event with a time of 1:06.06, and Eve Chery (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) took 24th place with a time of 1:09.88.

In the last event of the night, the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, Penn State Altoona's team of Petry, Holl, Chery, and Emma Wallace (Rochester, NY/Wayne Central) earned eighth place by combining to finish in 9:07.52.

Penn State Altoona will compete in the third and final day of the Oberlin Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, November 20. The day's preliminaries round starts at 9:00 a.m., and the finals are scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
