Coleman Named AMCC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona freshman Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) was selected the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.

Coleman helped lead the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team to its first-ever win over AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend during the Lions' home meet on Saturday, December 4. The freshman had three individual first place finishes and was also part of the relay team that provided the go-ahead points for Penn State Altoona in the final event of the meet.

Coleman's first win of the meet came in the 200 Yard Freestyle, when she earned a time of 2:05.71. She clinched her second victory in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.11, and she sealed the trifecta by taking first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:47.32. Coleman combined with her teammates to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a total time of 3:58.30, with the result pushing the Lions to a 132-125 win on the day.

This is Coleman's first career AMCC Swimmer of the Week award.

Penn State Altoona women's swimming is 3-2 in dual meets this season. The Lions return to action on Friday, December 10 for their final event of the semester, when the team travels to take on non-conference opponent Lycoming College at 6:00 p.m.
