Women’s Swimming Posts 100-53 Win at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team picked up a big win on Friday evening, when the Lions earned a 100-53 decision over non-conference opponent Lycoming College in a dual meet at the Lamade Gym Natatorium.

The victory represented Penn State Altoona's fourth dual meet win of the season, as well as its third consecutive dual meet win. The Lions totaled seven first place finishes as a team to triumph by a lopsided margin over Lycoming.

Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) led the way for Penn State Altoona with three individual first places. Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College) picked up two individual wins for the Lions.

Coleman notched her first win of the meet in the 200 Yard Freestyle, during which she clocked in at 2:05.27 to claim first. Later, she won the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:45.73, and she recorded her third victory of the evening in the 100 Yard Breaststroke by finishing in 1:16.55.

Dangelo prevailed in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:25.86, and she earned her second win of the meet in the 100 Yard Backstroke by clocking in at 1:08.08.

Angela Tramontana (Scotch Plains, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) also picked up an individual first place for the Lions, winning the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 14:52.07.

Penn State Altoona won the night's opening event, the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as the team of Eve Chery (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), Hailey Toth (New Ringgold, PA/Tamaqua), Grace Frey (Wayne, PA/Conestoga), and Tramontana came together to post a time of 2:19.99 to receive first place.

The Lions will now break for the remainder of the semester and return to intercollegiate action on Saturday, January 15, when the team will host Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Wells College for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Adler Natatorium.
