Women’s Swimming Bests Bradford in Final Home Meet

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team posted a victory in its last home meet of the 2021-22 season on Friday night, when the Lions defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford 124-47 in the Adler Natatorium.

Penn State Altoona won 10 of the meet's 11 events to notch its fifth consecutive dual meet win and sixth dual meet victory overall this season.

Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley), McKenna Holl (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), and Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) each had two individual first place finishes to lead the Lions in wins during the meet.

Heisey's first victory came in the 200 Yard Freestyle when she completed the race in 2:11.63. She later took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:19.34.

Holl recorded a first place finish in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:10.05, and she later came in first in the 100 Yard Backstroke by clocking in at 1:09.08.

Petry earned her first win of the meet in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 1:11.65. She also earned a first place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle, finishing in 5:53.70.

Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College) picked up a first place finish in the 400 Yard IM, during which she finished in 5:00.22. Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) also posted an individual win, triumphing in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 57.69.

Penn State Altoona also came away with wins in both of the meet's relay events. In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the Lions' team of Petry, Grace Frey (Wayne, PA/Conestoga), Holl, and Camille Izdepski (Lusby, MD/Patuxent) finished atop the standings with a time of 2:09.53. The team closed the meet with a first place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, during which the foursome of Hailey Toth (New Ringgold, PA/Tamaqua), Heisey, Dangelo, and Coleman combined for a time of 4:06.27.

Next, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team will close out its regular season schedule with a tri-meet hosted by Elizabethtown College on Saturday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. That afternoon, the Lions will take on non-conference opponents Elizabethtown and Juniata College.
