Women’s Swimming Falls to Elizabethtown, Juniata in Regular Season Finale

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – In its last event of the 2021-22 regular season, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team suffered a pair of losses to non-conference opponents Elizabethtown College and Juniata College in Elizabethtown's Alumni Pool.

The Lions lost their dual to host Elizabethtown 118-70 and were also edged 92-91 by Juniata. Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College), Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley), and Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) each had individual first place finishes for Penn State Altoona.

Dangelo's win came in the 100 Yard Butterfly, in which she took first place with a time of 1:03.78. She also recorded a second place finish in her other individual swim, the 200 Yard IM, clocking in at 2:21.54.

Heisey placed first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.47, and she was later the runner-up in the 100 Yard Freestyle by finishing in 57.98.

Petry triumphed in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 12:01.50, and she also placed second in the 500 Yard Freestyle by hitting the pad at 5:53.49.

Dangelo, Heisey, and Petry also had a hand in the Lions' second place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, combining with Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) to post a total time of 3:53.99 to come in second place in the standings.

Coleman also achieved a second place individual finish during the meet, finishing as the runner-up in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:08.82.

Now, Penn State Altoona women's swimming will prepare for the four-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships. The season-ending event will be hosted at Webster High School in Webster, N.Y. on Wednesday, February 16 through Saturday, February 19.
