Women’s Swimming Holds Third in Day Two of AMCC Championships

WEBSTER, N.Y. – At the conclusion of the second day of the four-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships on Thursday at Webster Aquatic Center, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team remained in third place out of six squads in the AMCC standings.

The Lions totaled a two-day score of 200.5 points to place third in their conference, as well as sixth out of 10 total teams competing in the combined AMCC-Empire 8 championships meet. Alfred State College was in second place in the combined standings and first place in the AMCC with 251 points, and Penn State Behrend was third overall and second in the conference with 250 points.

Wells College was seventh overall and fourth in the AMCC with 103 points, Pitt-Bradford was eighth overall and fifth in the AMCC with 94.5 points, and Medaille College was 10th overall and sixth in the AMCC with two points.

Highlighting Penn State Altoona's showing during Thursday evening's finals session was a team record-breaking performance by Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley), Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College), Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights), and Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, in which the squad combined for a time of 1:42.13 to finish second in the overall standings and first in the AMCC. The foursome's time set a new women's swimming team record, supplanting the previous mark of 1:43.29, which was set by Heisey, Dangelo, Coleman, and McKenna Holl on November 18.

In the 200 Yard IM, Dangelo placed first in the AMCC and took third place in the combined meet standings with a time of 2:15.39. Heisey placed second in the AMCC and fourth overall in the 50 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 25.21.
