Women’s Swimming Caps Semester With 119-97 Win

ALTOONA, Pa. – In its final event of the semester, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team returned home on Friday night to hand non-conference opponent Lycoming College a 119-97 defeat in the Adler Natatorium.

The victory is the women's team's fourth dual meet win of the season. Penn State Altoona recorded six first place finishes throughout the evening, with Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College) leading the way with three individual first places. Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone), Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights), and Teah Sponsler (Halifax, PA/Halifax) had one first place finish apiece.

Dangelo's first win of the meet came in the 50 Yard Backstroke, in which she finished in 29.44. Her second victory was in the 50 Yard Butterfly, when she recorded a time of 27.89. Dangelo's third first place finish came in the 100 Yard IM, in which she clocked in at 1:04.25.

Coleman won the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:50.84, Petry took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle after finishing in 2:06.23, and Sponsler triumphed in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:05.01.

Now, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team will head into winter break. The Lions will return to action on Saturday, January 21, when the team will host Chatham University, Franciscan University, and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford for a meet in Adler starting at 1:00 p.m.
