Women’s Swimming Falls to Elizabethtown in Regular Season Finale

ALTOONA, Pa. – In its final meet of the regular season on Saturday afternoon in the Adler Natatorium, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team had its five-dual meet win streak snapped with a 157-93 loss to non-conference opponent Elizabethtown College.

Before the meet, the Penn State Altoona women's team recognized its three senior swimmers, Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College), Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley), and Megan Yingling (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg), in a senior day ceremony.

The Lions compiled three first place finishes during the meet, getting two individual wins and one relay victory.

Dangelo won the 100 Yard Backstroke by clocking in at 1:03.75, and Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) prevailed in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:17.70.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Petry, Heisey, Teah Sponsler (Halifax, PA/Halifax), and Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) combined for a time of 1:44.99 to take first place.

Juniata College's club swimming team also competed in the meet on an exhibition basis.

Now, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team will prepare for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, which are set to be held at Webster High School in Rochester, N.Y. from Wednesday, February 15 through Saturday, February 18.
