Women’s Volleyball Victorious Against Pitt-Greensburg

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team claimed another victory Tuesday night, as the Lions won 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-15) against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg in the Adler Arena.

Lydia Mock (Alum Bank, PA/Chestnut Ridge) led all players in the match with nine points and eight kills while tying for the team lead with seven digs. Taylor Myers (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) contributed eight points, five kills, three digs, and a match-high two solo blocks.

Taylor Kilmer (Julian, PA/Bald Eagle) had six points, six kills, and two digs, and Jadeyn Price (Altoona, PA/Altoona) also contributed six points and six kills. Lacee Barnhart (Bellefonte, PA/Bald Eagle) added five kills and seven digs.

Kayla Moran (Boalsburg, PA/State College) put up a match-high of 26 assists and finished with three digs and one kill, and Abigail Brinker (Lock Haven, PA/PHAA) chipped in nine assists and four digs. Erin Lutz (State College, PA/State College) contributed six digs, and Kristen Onder (Clarence, PA/Bald Eagle) had five digs.

In the first set, Moran scored an ace to give Penn State Altoona (7-10, 3-1 AMCC) an early lead, 2-1. However, after Pitt-Greensburg took the lead, Mock's kill put Altoona behind by one, 9-8. Makenna Port (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) scored a kill to tie the match, 10-10, followed by three points in a row to break the tie and take the lead, 13-10. Barnhart's kill made it 18-13, and Mock's kill extended Altoona's lead to six points, 20-14. Port's block increased the Lions' advantage to eight, 22-14, and her kill closed the set at 25-16 for Penn State Altoona.

In the second set, Myers scored a kill followed by a back row kill from Barnhart to put the Lions up 3-1. Mock and Kilmer scored back-to-back kills to give Altoona an eight-point advantage, 11-3, as the Lions had a nine-point run against the Bobcats (1-18, 0-4 AMCC) to go up 16-3. Kayla Nothstein (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) scored on a tip over to extend Altoona's lead to 13 points, 22-9. Penn State Altoona won the second set 25-10 

Penn State Altoona started the third set on a 4-0 run. Price scored a kill to make it 8-3, followed by an ace from Onder. Nothstein's block made it 16-9, and the Lions took a 10-point lead against Bobcats, 19-9. Kilmer's kill made it 23-13, and Karlie Feathers (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) scored a kill to seal the win, 25-15.

The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team's next match is this Thursday, October 20, in the Adler Arena against non-conference opponent Elizabethtown College. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
