
Men’s Golf Tied for Second at The Gauntlet
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's golf team teed off day one of The Gauntlet, presented by Premier Collegiate Tournaments, on Sunday at Bucknell Golf Club.
The Lions shot 289 to tie for the second-lowest team score in a round in program history, finishing the day in a tie for second place out of 14 teams. Franklin & Marshall College held down the top spot on the team leaderboard with 284, while the Lions found themselves in a three-way tie with Gettysburg College and McDaniel College.
Peter Nusbaum (Pittsboro, NC/Thales Academy) had Penn State Altoona's low score for Sunday, firing an even-par 70 to tie for seventh place individually out of 75 golfers. Nicky Riscica (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) tied for 10th place on the player leaderboard, carding 1-over par with a 71.
Andrew Bruce (Moon Township, PA/Moon) shot 2-over par, earning a score of 72 to tie for 14th place. Nicholas Helsley (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) and Joey Sabol (State College, PA/State College) rounded out Penn State Altoona's lineup, with Helsley shooting 76 to tie for 44th place and Sabol carding 81 to tie for 65th.s
The Lions also had a pair of golfers compete as individuals, as Ethan Ellis (Pittsburgh, PA/North Catholic) and Roger Royer (Williamsburg, PA/Williamsburg Community) had matching scores of 85.
Penn State Altoona men's golf wraps up The Gauntlet tomorrow, Monday, September 16, with the first tee times of the round expected to happen at approximately 9 a.m.
