Men’s Swimming Bested by Behrend

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's swimming was handed a 160-67 defeat at the hands of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon in the Adler Natatorium.

The Lions picked up two first place finishes and also set a new program record time in an event.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) took first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly, clocking in at 56.46 to win the swim. In the day's final event, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Kieran McKee (York, PA/West York), Yaw, Taylor Bohn (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville), and Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) recorded a combined time of 1:32.25 to come in first.

Swanson added his name to the Penn State Altoona men's swimming record books again by posting a new program-best time in the 400 Yard IM. Swanson placed second in that swim with a time of 4:26.88, surpassing Yaw's previous record of 4:38.07, which was set on February 16, 2018 during the AMCC Championships.

In addition to Swanson's second place in the 400 Yard IM, the Lions had three other runner-up finishes on the day.

Swanson took second in the 100 Yard Backstroke, posting a time of 56.16. Greg Landis (York, PA/West York) was the second place finisher in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, earning a time of 2:31.52. McKee came in second in the 100 Yard Butterfly, recording a time of 57.69.

Penn State Altoona men's swimming is now finished with competitions for the semester, and the Lions are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 11 with a home meet at 1:00 p.m. against non-conference opponent Bethany College.
