
Men’s Swimming Sweeps Alfred State, Bradford in Tri-Meet
ALFRED, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team faced its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference competition of the season on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions went up against Alfred State College and Pitt-Bradford in a tri-meet at ASC's McLane Natatorium.
Penn State Altoona posted wins over both opponents, defeating Alfred State 169-104 and posting a 182-63 victory over Pitt-Bradford. The Lions racked up 10 first places as a team, winning both relay events and taking eight of the individual swims.
The Lions opened the meet with a first place in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, in which the team of Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs), Brian Nguyen (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township), Lincoln Johnson (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown), and Rocco Solimeo (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) came together for a time of 3:49.42 to win the event.
Nick Trabucco (Carlisle, PA/Boiling Springs) won the meet's first individual swim, taking first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 11:03.20. Heyman took first in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.59.
Benjamin Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) placed first in the 200 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 2:08.82, and Johnson came next with a first-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 22.62.
Shuo Sun (Falls Church, VA/China High Schools) won the 100 Yard Freestyle, ending with a time of 49.17. Heyman notched his second individual victory of the meet in the 200 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 2:08.50 to take first place.
Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria) earned first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly, touching the pad at 54.09, and Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) won the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:34.43.
Penn State Altoona concluded the men's meet with one more victory, as the foursome of Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Sun, Solimeo, and Johnson combined for a time of 1:30.54 to win the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.
Penn State Altoona men's swimming will now prepare for its first multi-day event, as the Lions will swim in the Malone University Invitational on Thursday, November 21, through Saturday, November 23.
