
Lions Defeat Lebanon Valley 159-34 in Return to Action
ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team competed in its first meet of the semester on Friday night at home, and the Lions took care of non-conference opponent Lebanon Valley College, 159-34, in the Adler Natatorium.
The Lions returned to intercollegiate action for the first time since December 13 and notched their sixth dual meet win of the season. Penn State Altoona won all 11 of the meet's events, including getting a pair of individuals victories from Benjamin Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin).
Dotts secured his first win of the evening in the 200 Yard IM, in which he posted a time of 2:09.79. Later, he won the 100 Yard Breaststroke after clocking in at 1:05.64.
The Lions began the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, where the squad of Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs), Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria), and Rocco Solimeo (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) combined for a time of 1:39.64.
After that, Andrew Miller (Easton, PA/Easton) took first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:05.15. Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) prevailed in the next swim, the 200 Yard Freestyle, after finishing in 1:50.25.
Solimeo came next, winning the 50 Yard Freestyle in 22.88. McMullen later achieved a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly, earning a time of 53.77. Adam Dotts came first in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 48.93.
In the next event, the 100 Yard Backstroke, Heyman finished atop the standings by recording a time of 58.02, and Nick Trabucco (Carlisle, PA/Boiling Springs) followed that up with a first place in the 500 Yard Freestyle, hitting the pad at 5:22.17.
Penn State Altoona ended the meet with one more victory, taking first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay after the team of Lincoln Johnson (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown), McMullen, Solimeo, and Dotts came together for a total time of 1:30.25.
The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team has a quick turnaround for its next event, as the Lions will hit the road tomorrow, Saturday, January 25, to compete in a tri-meet with non-conference foes Juniata College and Elizabethtown College starting at 1 p.m. in Huntingdon.
