Men’s Tennis Drops Season Opener 7-2 to Geneva

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's tennis got its 2018 season underway on Saturday, when the Lions lost 7-2 to non-conference opponent Geneva College at the Summit Tennis & Athletic Club.

Geneva (7-0) won two out of three doubles matches to start the day with a lead, and the Golden Tornadoes went on to claim victories in five of six singles matches to earn the five-point match win.

Penn State Altoona (0-1) picked up a point in No. 1 doubles, where the duo of Jake College (Altoona, PA/Altoona)/Jonathan D'Arcy (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) pulled out a 9-8 (3) win. The Lions' other point came courtesy of a No. 2 singles victory by Parag Dharbhamulla (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop), who earned a 9-7 triumph over his opponent.

Lions tennis will return to action with another home match on Wednesday, March 14, when the team will host non-conference foe Juniata College for a 4:30 p.m. match at the Gorilla House Gym in Altoona.
