Lady Lions Bowling Places 10th in First AMCC Round Robin

ERIE, Pa. – At the conclusion of day two of this weekend's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin #1 on Sunday at Eastland Bowl, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team took 10th place in the standings.

After facing five AMCC teams in Saturday's action, the Lady Lions competed against the remaining four conference bowling teams on Sunday in five-game baker matches decided by total pinfall. Penn State Altoona was handed four more losses, falling to Saint Vincent College (786-654), Mount Aloysius College (834-610), La Roche University (700-635), and Hilbert College (680-615).

Penn State Altoona faced St. Vincent, which entered Sunday's action in first place in this weekend's standings, in its first match of the day, marking the fifth time that the Lady Lions took on the Lady Bearcats in head-to-head action this season. Penn State Altoona bowled its best game of the day in the first game, putting up a 160 to St. Vincent's 151. But the Lady Bearcats won the next four games by scores of 120-115, 159-147, 223-120, and 133-112.

In match number two, the Lady Lions faced nearby conference opponent Mount Aloysius for the sixth time this season. The Lady Mounties won the pinfall battle in each of the match's five games, prevailing by scores of 139-114, 160-95, 171-142, 204-133, and 160-126.

Penn State Altoona was matched up against La Roche in the day's third match, marking the fifth time that the two teams have played each other head-to-head this season. La Roche won the first three games by scores of 140-109, 147-116, and 144-138, but Penn State Altoona took the pinfall in the fourth game by a 141-132 margin. However, La Roche's 137-131 win in the fifth game iced a win for the Lady Redhawks.

The Lady Lions finished the event off by taking on Hilbert for the first time this season. The Lady Hawks won in pinfall in each of the match's five games, edging Penn State Altoona by scores of 131-128, 123-110, 126-114, 150-114, and 159-149.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling is now 0-9 in AMCC play, following the first conference regular season round robin event this season. The AMCC Round Robin #2 weekend is scheduled to occur on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8, and it will be hosted by Mount Aloysius at the Bavarian Aid Society in Altoona.

The Lady Lions' next scheduled event is on Sunday, February 16, when the team will travel to Hillview Lanes in Greensburg to compete in the Br. Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament, hosted by St. Vincent. Start time for the day's action is set for 11:00 a.m.
