Women’s Bowling Places Seventh at St. Vincent Tournament

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team took part in the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament, hosted by Saint Vincent College, on Sunday at Hillview Lanes.

The Lady Lions finished in seventh place out of seven competing teams, going 0-4 on the day while facing three different Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponents and compiling a total pinfall of 2,833. Bowling traditional team matches, Penn State Altoona lost 930-610 to host St. Vincent, fell 693-547 to Penn State Behrend, and then lost a pair of matches to Pitt-Bradford by scores of 715-546 and 650-589. The Lady Lions rolled a 541 as a team in their fifth match, which was a bye.

Daemen College won the tournament with a total pinfall of 4,239, and St. Vincent was the runner-up with a pinfall of 4,216. Mercyhurst University took third place with 3,816 pins, Penn State Behrend was fourth with 3,556 pins, Villa Maria College came in fifth with 3,323 pins, and Pitt-Bradford placed sixth with 3,301 pins.

Allyson Givler (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) finished 22nd out of 41 individual bowlers in total pinfall, dropping 631 pins in five games for an average of 126.2 per game. Givler posted Penn State Altoona's high score on the day, rolling a 153 in the Lady Lions' opening game against St. Vincent.

Jennifer Worley (Altoona, PA/Altoona) ranked 27th in pins, totaling 539 for an average of 107.8. Alyssa Bender (Altoona, PA/Altoona) competed in four of a possible five games, dropping 496 pins for an average of 124.0 per game.

Sierra Snigier (Seaford, DE/Seaford) put down 487 pins over five games, recording an average of 97.4. Kaitlyn Estright (Norristown, PA/Archbishop Carroll) competed in three games, totaling 349 pins to average 116.3 per game. Po-Hsuan Peng (Taoyuan City, Taiwan/Dayuan International) also bowled three games, knocking down 331 pins for a 110.3 average per game.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team will travel to Perry Park Lanes in Pittsburgh this upcoming Saturday, February 22 to take on AMCC opponent La Roche University in a dual match starting at 9:30 a.m.
