Women’s Bowling Picked Ninth in AMCC Preseason Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team was voted into ninth place out of 11 teams in the 2023-24 edition of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll, the results of which were released on Tuesday afternoon.

Saint Vincent College, last year's regular season champion and conference tournament runner-up, was voted first place in the poll. Pitt-Bradford took second place, and Penn State Behrend rounded out the top three spots.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling went 11-38 overall last season, including compiling a 5-15 record within the AMCC. Elizabeth Rhodes returns for her third season as the Lions' head coach.

Named as a "Player to Watch" for Penn State Altoona in the poll was sophomore Kennedie Lauver (New Berlin, PA/Mifflinburg). As a freshman last season, Lauver led the Lions in both traditional average (161.1 per game) and baker average (16.22).

Penn State Altoona women's bowling opens its 2023-24 schedule on the road Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5 at the Bobcat Baker Classic, hosted by Pitt-Greensburg at Hillview Lanes.
