
Women’s Golf Takes Fourth in Home Invitational
ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's golf team hosted its first home event of the 2024-25 season on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions held the Penn State Altoona Fall Invitational at their home course, Sinking Valley Country Club.
Penn State Altoona shot 432 on the par 72 course to finish in fourth place out of four teams.
Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Carlow University won the tournament, which also doubled as the AMCC Women's Invitational, with a team score of 364. Non-conference opponents Grove City College and Juniata College placed second and third, respectively, with scores of 375 and 428.
Lauren Thompson (Austin, TX/Anderson) shot Penn State Altoona's low round with an 18-over par, 90, to come in fifth place out of 24 individuals and fourth among the AMCC golfers. Isabelle Dahl (Athens, PA/Athens) placed 12th overall and seventh in the AMCC with 104.
Sabella Wu (Brooklyn, NY/Midwdood) shot 112 to finish in 18th place, and Isabelle Forcey (Clearfield, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) was 22nd after carding 126. Alyssa Franks (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) rounded out the Lions' lineup by scoring 127 to place 23rd.
Penn State Altoona women's golf will remain at home for its next event, as the Lions will take on non-conference foes Hood College and Susquehanna University in a tri-match at Sinking Valley on Saturday, October 12, beginning at 12 p.m.
