Women’s Golf Concludes Fall with Eighth-Place Finish in The Melee
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Penn State Altoona women's golf team wrapped up its final event of its fall schedule on Monday, competing in the second and final day of The Melee, presented by Premier Collegiate Tournaments, at Ford's Colony Country Club.
Penn State Altoona shot 436 in Monday's round on the par 72 course, finishing with a two-day total of 867 to take eighth place out of nine teams.
Alvernia University won the tournament with 628, Drew University was the runner-up with 649, and Bridgewater College placed third with 673.
Lauren Thomspon (Austin, TX/Anderson) finished in a tie for 17th place on the player leaderboard, totaling 175 across two days, including her team-low 83 in Monday's round. Isabelle Dahl (Athens, PA/Athens) duplicated her round-one score by shooting 109 on Monday, finishing in 34th place with a two-round total of 218.
Sabella Wu (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) and Isabelle Forcey (Clearfield, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) both shot 122 on Monday, with Wu combining for 235 to finish in 39th place and Forcey totaling 239 to come in 40th place. Alyssa Franks (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) scored 126 on Monday, ending the tournament in 42nd place with a two-day total of 254.
With its fall schedule now complete, the Penn State Altoona women's golf team will pause intercollegiate competition until the spring semester. The Lions are scheduled to return to Williamsburg for their first event of the spring, when the team will compete in The Ruckus on March 22-23 at Williamsburg National Golf Club.
