Women’s Swimming in Third After Day One of AMCCs

ERIE, Pa. – After the first day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Swimming Championships on Wednesday evening at the Junker Center Pool, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team found itself in third place out of four teams.

The Lady Lions secured 20 points in the first night of finals, which consisted of just one relay event. Alfred State College was in first place by the end of the evening with 65 points, while host Penn State Behrend was second with 46 points. Franciscan University rounded out the pack with 18 points, good for fourth place.

Wednesday night's finals session consisted of the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay. In the 'A' final for that event, Penn State Altoona came in third place to secure 20 points. Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts), Hannah Kimmick (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield), Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone), and Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA) combined for a total time of 8:58.65.

Day two of the AMCC Championships is tomorrow, Thursday, February 14. The day kicks off with preliminaries in the 500 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard IM, and 50 Yard Freestyle at 10:00 a.m. In the evening, starting at 6:00 p.m., the finals session will consist of the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, 500 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard IM, 50 Yard Freestyle, and 400 Yard Medley Relay events.
