Wells Edges Lady Lions 92-73

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's swimming hosted non-conference opponent Wells College for a dual meet in the Adler Natatorium on Tuesday afternoon, and the Express came away with a 92-73 win over the Lady Lions.

Penn State Altoona totaled seven first place finishes as a team in the loss. Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley), Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College), and Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA) each recorded two individual first place finishes.

Heisey picked up the Lady Lions' first win of the day in the 200 Yard Freestyle, during which she posted a time of 2:15.58 to finish atop the standings. Three events later, she took first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly by clocking in at 1:11.26.

Dangelo earned a first place finish in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:03.53, and she later won the 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:02.50.

Heil secured a victory in the 500 Yard Freestyle by finishing in 6:26.07, and her second win of the meet came in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, during which she recorded a time of 1:24.13.

Penn State Altoona's seventh win of the day came during the meet's final event, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. In that event, Dangelo, Heisey, Gillian Lowe (York, PA/Dallastown), and Heil combined for a time of 4:11.36 to take first place.

The Lady Lions swim team holds its final home meet of the season this Friday, January 17 against non-conference opponent Gallaudet University. Start time for the dual meet is set for 6:00 p.m.
