Women’s Swimming Defeats Lebanon Valley with 115-69 Road Win

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team pulled out a 115-69 victory over non-conference opponent Lebanon Valley College on Friday night in Arnold Sports Center, extending their win streak to three for the spring semester and four victories in a row overall.

Penn State Altoona totaled eight first-place finishes as a team in the victory, which was the team's fifth dual meet win of the season. The Lions won both of the meet's relay events, while five different Lion swimmers combined for six first places in individual events.

Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) led the way for Penn State Altoona with two individual wins. In the 200 Meter IM, she took first place with a time of 2:44.69. She later prevailed in the 100 Meter Backstroke after finishing 1:13.51.

Katie Chen (Jacksonville, FL/Creekside) won the 800 Meter Freestyle with a time of 11:30.96, and Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) earned first place in the 200 Meter Freestyle by clocking in at 2:21.15.

Ayva Harris (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) clinched first place in the 100 Meter Breaststroke, ending with a time of 1:22.96. Teah Sponsler (Halifax, PA/Halifax) came in first in the 400 Meter Freestyle with a time of 5:35.11.

In the meet-opening 200 Meter Medley Relay, Penn State Altoona triumphed as the team of Emma Fraundorfer (Altoona, PA/Altoona), Harris, Ava Monborne (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria) and Sponsler compiled a total time of 2:15.93 to take first place.

The Lions closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay, during which Coleman, McKenna Holl (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Monborne and Petry came together for a time of 2:01.09.

The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, January 27 as they compete against non-conference opponents Elizabethtown College and Juniata College in a tri-meet at Elizabethtown starting at 1 p.m.
