Women’s Swimming Sweeps Tri-Meet with Alfred State, Bradford

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team traveled to Alfred State College for their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference meet of the season on Saturday, when the Lions faced the host Pioneers and Pitt-Bradford in a tri-meet at Alfred State's McLane Natatorium.

Penn State Altoona came away with a pair of wins, defeating host Alfred State by a score of 142-132 and topping Pitt-Bradford 195-24. The Lions totaled seven first-place finishes in the meet, with all of them coming in individual events.

Alexis Buchala (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua) posted Penn State Altoona's first win of the meet, prevailing in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 12:20.57. Two events later, McKenna Holl (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) placed first in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 1:05.69.

Ayva Harris (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) came next, winning the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.86. Later, Holl recorded her second win of the meet by taking first place in the 200 Yard Backstroke after posting a time of 2:21.71.

Harris notched her second victory of the meet in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, coming in first place with a time of 2:47.87. Teah Sponsler (Halifax, PA/Halifax) won the 100 Yard Butterfly, recording a time of 1:08.73.

Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) came first in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 5:08.97, representing the Lions' final win of the day.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team will take part in its first multi-day tournament on Thursday, November 21, through Saturday, November 23, when the Lions will compete in the Malone University Invitational.
