Lions Post 118-65 Victory Over Lebanon Valley

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team got back in the win column Friday night at home, as the Lions picked up a 118-65 victory over non-conference opponent Lebanon Valley College in a dual meet in the Adler Natatorium.

Penn State Altoona's victory was its sixth dual meet win of the season, as well as its first of the semester. The Lions won eight out of 11 events on the night, with Anna Heller (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon) leading the way with a pair of individual victories.

Heller placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:13.97, and she later recorded her second win of the night in the 500 Yard Freestyle after finishing in 6:02.48.

Penn State Altoona started the evening by prevailing in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, in which McKenna Holl (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Ayva Harris (Monroeville, PA/Gateway), Teah Sponsler (Halifax, PA/Halifax), and Emma Fraundorfer (Altoona, PA/Altoona) compiled a total time of 2:02.15.

Alexis Buchala (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua) won the meet's first individual swim, the 1000 Yard Freestyle, after clocking in at 11:55.71.

Several events later, Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) achieved first place in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:26.55. Julia Daley (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) followed with a victory of her own, taking first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly after clocking in at 1:08.73.

Later, Hailey Toth (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua) earned a win in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, taking first with a time of 1:14.34.

The Lions capped the night with a win in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as the group of Daley, Claire Smith (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley), Heller, and Coleman came together for a time of 1:50.08.

The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team gets right back to action tomorrow, Saturday, January 25, when the Lions will face off against non-conference opponents Juniata College and Elizabethtown College in a tri-meet hosted by Juniata. Start time for the meet is 1 p.m.
