Colaianni Named AMCC Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona sophomore Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week in women's tennis on Tuesday afternoon.

Colaianni, who is in her first year of collegiate tennis, posted a 2-0 record in both singles and doubles matches during the Lions' opening weekend of the 2024 season.

In Penn State Altoona's season-opening, 6-1 home victory over AMCC opponent Carlow University last Saturday, Colaianni had a 6-0, 6-3 win in her No. 6 singles match while partnering with teammate Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) for a 6-2 triumph in No. 3 doubles. The sophomore followed that up with two more wins on Sunday, when the Lions topped visiting non-conference foe Waynesburg University by a score of 7-0. Colaianni prevailed 6-1, 6-0 in No. 6 singles and teamed up with Fulton for a 6-2 win in No. 3 doubles.

Penn State Altoona women's tennis continues its schedule this week, when the team will travel for its first road match of the season. The Lions hit the road for Washington, Pa. on Wednesday, September 4, to face non-conference opponent Washington & Jefferson College at 6 p.m.
