
Women’s Tennis Downed by Bearcats
ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team returned home on Sunday afternoon to host non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College at the Adler Tennis Courts, and the Lions suffered a 6-1 loss at the hands of the visiting Bearcats.
St. Vincent (2-0) won all three doubles matches to secure the first point of the day, then proceeded to take five out of six in singles play to win the overall match by five.
Penn State Altoona (2-2) earned its lone point of the afternoon in No. 2 singles, where Rachel Stricek (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) defeated her opponent by a 6-3, 6-0 decision for her third victory of the season.
Penn State Altoona women's tennis heads back to the road next weekend for back-to-back matches. The Lions will take on Division II opponent Clarion University on Saturday, September 14, at 12 p.m., then go up against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Penn State Behrend on Sunday, September 15, at 11 a.m.
