
Behrend Defeats Women’s Tennis 5-2
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team ended its weekend road trip with a loss on Sunday, when the Lions fell 5-2 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend.
Behrend (1-1, 1-0 AMCC) claimed victory in all three doubles matches to take the first point of the day, and the home team proceeded to win one through four in singles play to finish with a three-point decision over Penn State Altoona (3-3, 1-1 AMCC).
Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) and Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area) salvaged points for the Lions with wins in the fifth and sixth singles matches, picking up their third and fifth wins of the season, respectively. Fulton pulled out a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 victory in the No. 5 match, while Colaianni earned a 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 6 spot.
Penn State Altoona women's tennis returns home for its next match, as the Lions will host non-conference opponent Lycoming College on Thursday, September 19 at 3:30 p.m.
