GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team suffered its second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss of the season on Sunday afternoon, when the Lions fell 4-3 to league opponent Pitt-Greensburg at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
Penn State Altoona (7-6, 3-2 AMCC), playing in its final AMCC match of the regular season, fell behind early, as Pitt-Greensburg (5-3, 4-0 AMCC) won two out of three in doubles to earn the day's first point. The home Bobcats won the top two doubles matches by scores of 6-3 and 6-1, with the Lions' duo of Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford)/Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area) receiving a win by forfeit in the No. 3 match.
Pitt-Greensburg had more success in the top of the lineup during singles play, where the Bobcats prevailed in the No. 1 through No. 3 matches to add three more points to their team total. Penn State Altoona got on the board with points in the bottom three matches, where Abigail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville) earned her seventh victory of the season after pulling out a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 10-2 decision over her opponent in the No. 4 spot and Fulton and Colaianni again winning by forfeit in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches.
But Pitt-Greensburg ended the day with a 4-3 win over the Lions, who finish the AMCC regular season with a 3-2 record.
