Lady Lions Defeat Behrend, Wilkes in Saturday Tri-Match

ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's volleyball extended its winning streak to six consecutive matches while remaining undefeated in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference during Saturday's tri-match in the Adler Arena.

The Lady Lions (8-8, 4-0 AMCC) started the day with an exciting 3-2 win over AMCC rival Penn State Behrend. Later in the afternoon, Penn State Altoona defeated non-conference opponent Wilkes University 3-1.

Penn State Altoona's first match of the day was a showdown of AMCC contenders, and the Lady Lions were able to grind their way to a 25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 17-25, 16-14 victory over Behrend (5-10, 0-2 AMCC).

Lauren Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) led all players in the match with a career-high 23 kills to go along with 16 digs, eight set assists, three block assists, and two solo blocks.

Josie Stovall (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) added eight kills, eight digs, two service aces, and one solo block, while Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) posted eight kills and seven digs. Velanna Skripek (Moshannon, PA/Bald Eagle) finished with five kills, six digs, and two aces.

Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) had a team-high 39 set assists, and she also contributed 15 digs, five kills, and three block assists.

Nicole Kiser (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) led Penn State Altoona in digs with 20. Gracie Roberts (Apex, NC/Apex) chipped in nine digs, and Geordan Hay (Berlin, PA/Berlin Brothersvalley) added eight digs.

After Behrend defeated Wilkes (4-13) by a score of 3-1 in the second match of the day, Penn State Altoona handed the Colonels their second loss of the afternoon with a 27-25, 11-25, 25-23, 25-20 victory.

Diller led the Lady Lions in both kills and digs against Wilkes, finishing the match with 13 kills and a career-best 18 digs. Stovall added 11 kills, five digs, and two solo blocks, while Skripek had seven kills and four digs.

Moran recorded 31 assists while adding 16 digs and seven kills. Kiser tallied 15 digs, and Roberts also had 15 digs with a match-high four aces. Hay chipped in 14 digs.

Penn State Altoona women's volleyball wraps up its current homestand with an AMCC match against Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Adler Arena.
