Women's Volleyball Sweeps Penn College 3-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's volleyball cruised to its third consecutive win on Monday night, defeating non-conference opponent Penn College of Technology 3-0 at the Bardo Gymnasium.

The Lady Lions (12-11) won the match 25-17, 25-14, 25-22.

Lauren Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) tied for the match-high in kills with nine, and she also led all players in the match with 23 digs. Josie Stovall (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) had six kills and one solo block, and Velanna Skripek (Moshannon, PA/Bald Eagle) also recorded six kills to go along with five digs. Kaitlin Cassaday (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) tallied five kills and six digs.

Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) led the Lady Lions with 11 set assists to go along with eight digs and five kills. Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) added eight assists. Nicole Kiser (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) finished with 15 digs.

Penn (3-14) got nine kills and 12 digs from Jordyn Smeltzer, while Sophie Coldsmith had 21 digs and 17 assists.

Penn State Altoona women's volleyball plays another non-conference road match later this week, when the team will travel to face Susquehanna University on Thursday, October 26 for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
