Women’s Volleyball to Compete in Two Matches this Spring

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball program will return to intercollegiate competition for the first time since Fall 2019 next week, when the Lions will compete in a pair of exhibition matches.

The women's volleyball team's regular season in Fall 2020 was postponed, due to challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference subsequently cancelled conference competition in the sport for the entire 2020-21 season.

However, the Penn State Altoona women's volleyball program has officially announced two exhibition dates that will return to the team to competition.

The Lions will host La Roche University for a match in the Adler Arena next Tuesday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m. That match will also mark the occasion of the team's Senior Night.

The program's second and final match of the spring has been set for Thursday, April 22, when the Lions will travel to Chambersburg to take on Wilson College at 7:00 p.m.

The team had also scheduled a match at Lancaster Bible College on Thursday, April 15. However, that match was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols with Lancaster Bible.

Per AMCC and Penn State COVID-19 protocols, fans are still not permitted at indoor sporting events.
