Eagles Get Past Lions 2-1

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer was handed a tight 2-1 loss by non-conference opponent Juniata College on Thursday evening at Spring Run Stadium.

Jordan Crist (Alum Bank, PA/Chestnut Ridge) scored his second goal of the season for Penn State Altoona (1-7), and Seif Magd (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) picked up his second assist of the year.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made five saves between the pipes for the Lions in the loss.

Meanwhile, Juniata (4-4-1) got goals from Tristan Moore and Bass Diakhoumpa.

The Eagles scored just one minute into the contest, when Nathan Woods' cross into the box found Moore, who fired a shot past the keeper to make it 1-0.

Juniata increased its lead to 2-0 in the early stages of the second half, when a foul in the box led to a penalty kick goal. Diakhoumpa converted the penalty shot at 56:32 for the Eagles.

Penn State Altoona narrowed its deficit to one at 73:20. Magd sent a pass from the left sideline to the middle of the field, where Crist took it, dribbled forward to the box, and floated a shot overtop the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

But despite some quality ball possession for much of the final 15 minutes, the Lions were unable to come up with the game-tying goal.

Juniata led Penn State Altoona in total shots by a margin of 16-9, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Juniata also led 4-2 in corner kicks.
