Men’s Soccer Edged 2-1 by Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team suffered a narrow Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss on Tuesday night, falling 2-1 to nearby conference rival Mount Aloysius College at the Walker Athletic Complex.

Penn State Altoona (3-6, 1-2 AMCC) scored just over six minutes into the game, but the Lions' lead was short-lived, as Mount Aloysius (4-7-2, 2-0-1 AMCC) answered with two goals to establish a 2-1 lead before halftime. The second half was scoreless, and the Mounties held on for the tight win.

Grady Ballard (State College, PA/State College) netted his second goal of the season for Penn State Altoona, and Alexander Ferry (Warren, PA/Warren) totaled six saves between the pipes in his eighth start of the fall at keeper.

Ballard scored an unassisted goal at the 6:01 mark to put Penn State Altoona in front, 1-0.

But Mount Aloysius evened the score at 1-1 on a Tevin Beadle tally at 11:56, and Rhett Pletcher's goal at 38:34 gave the home team a 2-1 lead.

The Mounties kept Penn State Altoona in check during the second half, outshooting the Lions 9-0 in the period while maintaining their one-goal advantage through the 90th minute.

Penn State Altoona men's soccer returns home for its next game, as the Lions will host AMCC foe Penn State Behrend this Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m.
