
Men’s Soccer Downed by Behrend
ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team returned home to host Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon, and the visitors handed the Lions a 2-0 loss at Spring Run Stadium.
Behrend (6-6-3, 4-0-2 AMCC) scored the game's first goal late in the first half, then added an insurance marker midway through the second to win by two.
Sasha Mohoruk (State College, PA/State College) made 10 stops between the pipes for Penn State Altoona in his 10th start at goalkeeper this season.
Gabe Deppen (New Cumberland, PA/Trinity), Ethan Firth (York, PA/Central York), Matias Harte (State College, PA/State College), and Owen Myers (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) each had one shot on goal for the Lions.
Penn State Altoona held Behrend scoreless for the majority of the first half, until the visitors found the back of the net in the 42nd minute. Dylan Akut sent a corner kick into the box, where it was headed into the goal by Chris Profaca at 41:02 to give the Behrend Lions the lead shortly before halftime.
Behrend doubled its lead in the second half, when Lucas Pittman scored at 76:30 to make it 2-0.
Penn State Altoona men's soccer plays its final home game of the season on Wednesday, October 23, when the Lions will host AMCC opponent Carlow University at 4 p.m. That date also represents Penn State Altoona's senior day, and the team will recognize its senior players in a pregame ceremony.
