by Casey Burinskas

CRESSON, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team faced off against nearby Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday night at Kelly Field, where the Lions' season ended when they were handed a 3-0 loss by the Mounties.

Mount Aloysius (10-4-2, 6-1-1 AMCC) scored two goals in the first half, then added one more in the second half to defeat Penn State Altoona (3-10, 2-6 AMCC) and eliminate the Lions from contention for the final spot in the upcoming AMCC Tournament.

Jorge Rios (Panama City, Panama/El Colegio de Panama) placed one shot on goal for the Lions, and goalie Sasha Mohoruk (State College, PA/State College) totaled eight saves in his 13th start of the season for Penn State Altoona.

In the first half, Altoona was able to dodge two Mountie shots right off the bat. Mount Aloysius came out strong offensively, landing their first goal at 26:14 by Hippolyte Delhaes. Further down the road, with only four minutes left in the half, the Mounties were able to place another ball in the net, when Braden Callahan scored to end the half at 2-0.

With Altoona hopeful for a comeback in the second half, the period started strong for the Lions' defense, which held off the Mounties until the end of the half. Although the defense prevailed for most of the period, Mount Aloysius was able to plant another goal at 84:54 from Juan Camacho to end the game with a 3-0 win against the Lions.
