Women’s Soccer Falls to Chatham

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team took a loss at home on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions were downed 2-0 by non-conference opponent Chatham University at Spring Run Stadium.

Penn State Altoona (0-5-1) limited the visitors to 11 shot attempts and just five shots on goal, but Chatham (4-2) did enough to pull out the win, getting a first-half goal from Ava Krepp and a late second-half score from Ainsley Smith.

Adeline Baustert (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) notched her sixth start of the season at goalkeeper for the Lions and made three stops between the pipes. Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) had both of Penn State Altoona's shot attempts and her team's lone shot on goal.

Chatham got on the board at 10:37, when Krepp scored on an assist from Jorjanne Seaman. The Cougars maintained their 1-0 lead before tacking on a goal in the 90th minute, as Smith found the back of the net at 89:44 on a pass from Chiara Hutch.

Penn State Altoona women's soccer is back in action at home tomorrow, Sunday, September 15, hosting non-conference foe Washington & Jefferson College at 1 p.m.
