Bobcats Hand Women’s Soccer First Conference Loss

ALTOONA, Pa. – Pitt-Greensburg dealt the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss of the season on Wednesday evening, when the visiting Bobcats came out with a 4-0 victory over the Lions at Spring Run Stadium.

Pitt-Greensburg (6-3-4, 2-0-1 AMCC) broke the ice with a goal late in the first half, then tacked three more goals on to its total to finish with a four-goal victory over Penn State Altoona (1-7-2, 1-1-1 AMCC).

Adeline Baustert (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) made her 10th start of the season at goalkeeper for Penn State Altoona and recorded six saves in the loss.

Kylei Martin (Mifflinburg, PA/Mifflinburg) and Rachel Rutkowski (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) had shots on goal for the Lions, and Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) had a team-high two shot attempts. Emilee Roman (Davidsville, PA/Conemaugh Township) and Nicole Schwartz (Clifton, NJ/Passaic County Technical Institute) also attempted shots for Penn State Altoona.

Pitt-Greensburg took a 1-0 lead at 38:38, when a deflection in the box came to Sierra Frisoli, who tapped a shot into the net to put the Bobcats on the board.

The Bobcats added three more goals late in the second half, getting tallies from Sarah Tonkovich at 75:13 and Isabella Swartz at 79:48 before Frisoli scored her second of the game at the 87:04 mark.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team will hit the road for the first time since September 7, as the Lions continue their AMCC schedule in Hamburg, N.Y. against Hilbert College this Saturday, October 12, at 4:15 p.m.
