Women's Soccer Bested by Penn College
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team travelled to Williamsport to face the Penn College Wildcats today, where they would lose 3-0.
The first goal would come quickly for Penn College (6-0-1). Penn State Altoona (2-3-2) would concede a penalty in the second minute, which Penn College would convert to make the score 1-0.
The Lions would hold off a barge of shots from the Wildcats for the rest of the half as the Wildcats would have 15 shots, eight of them on goal. Junior goalkeeper Mya Torres (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper County) would make seven saves in the first half alone. Offensively, the Lions would have only one shot on goal, which would also be their only shot of the half.
The offensive onslaught would continue in the second half as Penn College would muster a further ten shots, half of them on goal. Conversely, Penn State Altoona would have four shots, none of them on goal.
Torres would play the entire game for the Lions, making ten saves on thirteen shots faced. Kira Trexler (Martinsburg, PA/Central) would have the lone shot on goal for the Lions.
In their next game, the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team will travel to Baltimore, Md. to play Notre Dame (Md.). Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
