Women’s Soccer Stumbles at Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. – In Wednesday afternoon's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Game of the Week, the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss to conference foe Pitt-Greensburg at Ridilla Field.

The Lions (7-7, 5-2 AMCC) were able to limit Pitt-Greensburg, the highest-scoring team in the AMCC, to just one goal on the day. But Penn State Altoona was unable to get any traction on offense, being held scoreless with just two shot attempts.

Jadyn Michael (Berwick, PA/Berwick) started in goal for the Lions and made eight saves in the loss. Ainsley Griffin (Stafford, VA/Mountain View) and Lexie Jobrey (Exton, PA/Downingtown East) recorded one shot attempt each for Penn State Altoona.

Pitt-Greensburg (13-2, 5-1 AMCC) scored the lone goal of the contest at 30:40, when Sarah Tonkovich's unassisted tally gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.

Penn State Altoona women's soccer will look to get back in the win column this Saturday, October 23, when the Lions travel for a non-conference game against Carnegie Mellon University starting at 5:00 p.m.
